They chose to celebrate the wonderful news of their engagement with a ‘Beloved’ shoot and it was more than evident the love they share.

Set on the beautiful Glenelg Beach foreshore where they frequently go together to shut out the world, this was a truly special time & a special place for them and we were moved as we watched their love & emotions unfold.

We had a beautiful day sharing in the wedding celebration of David & Shara surrounded by wonderful family & friends.  As equally as stunning as the bride & her glorious Rapunzel hair was the groom’s beaming smile & teary eyes.

The forecast for the day was very hot & stormy .. but of course the wedding was anything but stormy but it certainly was hot! Thankfully the weather held out for us & the skies stayed beautiful blue until we were in the reception where it bucketed down and we were blissfully unaware.

Along with David & Shara, we had been patiently waiting & anticipating the wedding day to arrive. Aside from the hot, stifling, sticky heat we had a fabulous day and finished the night off with our ‘Crazy Booth’ with lots of laughs & some fun antics.

David & Shara, thank you for entrusting us with your special day. It was an honour to it share with you and capture those beautiful moments forever.

At both homes preparations were underway for the day ahead … calmness, gentleness, peacefulness, flowed. A far cry from many of the weddings we’ve been privileged to be a part of. But this was no ordinary wedding anyway.

The Bride & Groom are young, but have destiny written all over them. Like that ocean, they are free flowing but powerful.

Not fussed with traditions, or procedures or complexity, or fancy clothes or big budgets but with a simple desire to share their union with friends & family and embark on their journey of life together. It was incredibly refreshing to witness such a beautiful day unfold … and lots of fun as you’ll see!

Matt & Eden, thank you for the privilege of being part of such a special day with everything else stripped away and purely the celebration of love & marriage. Perfect!

I believe that the “digital revolution” has reached a new level of maturity. The “general public”, from their own experience, now understands the importance of taking a digital photo file through to a printed photograph or album. Our clients now choose to display their photos in an exquisite custom made professional album … and we ADORE being able to hand over that gorgeous finished album.

There is nothing like turning the pages of a beautifully crafted album, NOTHING!

Can you honestly imagine that your iPad/laptop/PC/phone will still be working in 50 or 100 years. And will these yet to be precious photos you have stored on these devices, only in a digital format, be archived and viewable in even 25 years?

Another important thing to consider is no form of storage is PERMANENT – CD/DVD, USB drives etc DO have a FINITE lifespan and can’t be guaranteed readable in even 2 years. Remember the old floppy disks .. gone!

We take more photos than ever before, but I am scared that in the future, very few of these moments in history will be available for future generations. Still don’t believe me…where are the photos from your last holiday, Christmas, birthday party, etc. OK so you know where they are, excellent. Did you ever “get around” to having them printed…no, what about one of those cheap “coffee table books”? Now imagine your home was burning down, can you grab all your digital photos and take them with you?

A friend recently said his mum kept all the family photo albums in a cupboard next to the front door. Why? So if the house did catch fire and they could save nothing else, the albums would survive … and I’ve always said the same thing. If the house was to burn down, the only thing I’d rush to save would be our photos. 99% of everything else can be replaced .. images of our precious memories cannot.

By choosing to invest in creating albums today they become a beautiful family heirloom … Imagine with me if you will, in a few short years your grandchildren sitting down together talking, smiling & asking questions about the precious images before them. It won’t be long before that investment today becomes a ‘priceless treasure’ for your grandchildren & generations to come as they relive and celebrate your life.

The wedding day preparations began in stunning beachfront houses with spectacular sea views.   I arrived at the bride’s abode and was immediately greeted by 4 gorgeous little flowergirls and two equally stunning bridemaids.   The girls were all stunning, the details were all stunning, the light pouring through the HUGE glass windows was glorious … let’s just say I was excited, delighted and pumped.

With the details complete it was time for Samara to step into her gorgeous vintage inspired Liza Emanuele wedding dress.

Under the bright sun rays,  Travis & Samara promised to love, honor, and cherish. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, they vowed to walk through life together .. including one little extra.   They also made a vow to their daughter and presented her with a beautiful & symbolic gold bracelet.  There were a few tears in the crowd and some very wide smiles!!

As the sun was lowering on a glorious day, we snuck off with the wedding party to take their wedding photos around Port Elliot while the guests enjoyed some pre-reception drinks.

The bride & groom returned to a welcoming roar as their closest friends & family stood cheering & celebrating their return & the start of new life together.

They knew just how to ‘bring it’ and the camera loves them. It’s so good sometimes just to be able to shoot without directing all the way .. enjoying photographing & being creative for the sheer pleasure. We only had a short time but I LOVED it … they’re fierce, fun & GORGEOUS!

Here’s a small snippet of the day …

Sadly, I have spoken to many past brides who have been deeply disappointed by their wedding photos (me included) and have realised the value in hiring a professional photographer.  Every one of them has said if they had to do it all again .. “that’s the one thing I’d prioritise my spending on”.  Why? because in years to come, the cake will be eaten, the dress won’t fit or will be outdated, the venue & the day a sheer memory and yet what remains … the visual & emotional memories that are brought to life again via your wedding photos.   Your wedding photos can take you back again to relive & retell your day like nothing else.

So when I stumbled upon this blog post .. I knew it spoke for many and wanted to share – certainly food for thought!
